The Alert, Well, and Keeping Energetic Network (A.W.A.K.E.) is a mutual help support group for people with sleep apnea. The network has been an integral part of the American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA) since 1990.
The non-profit organization was founded to help patients and their families through support, education and awareness.
The philosophy and mission statement of the ASAA is expressed in the following statement:
"The American Sleep Apnea Association is dedicated to reducing injury, disability, and death from sleep apnea and to enhance the well-being of those affected by this common disorder. The ASAA promotes education and awareness, the ASAA A.W.A.K.E. Network of voluntary mutual support groups, research, and continuous improvement of care."
The Eastern Connecticut Sleep Program at Windham Hospital has joined the ASAA and invites all those who have sleep apnea, their family members, friends and anyone who has an interest in learning more about sleep apnea, to attend our A.W.A.K.E. support meetings.
